Thanks for stopping by. I should clarify author advances aren’t screwing up things. Authors need the money, believe I know. But there is a tendency in publishing to pay too much for books and when these books don’t “earn out” it can actually hurt the author. I think publishers need to be realistic about how much money they should pay for books, instead of throwing high six figure deals around without real justification.
Are they throwing them out to black authors as much as they are whites? I don't see it.
